    @myluxlifestyles,

    The Canard demo has the blog page displayed on the front page, whereas https://journeyluxe.wordpress.com/ has a static front page. You can change that by choosing the appropriate alternative at Customize > Static Front Page > Front page displays.

    Secondly, getting your front page to look more like the Canard demo requires a bit of additional setup work. The Featured Content and Featured Images section of the Canard theme guide says:

    The homepage allows you to prominently display your choice of up to five posts in a crisp grid. Select which posts to display with the “featured” post tag, or designate a different tag in the Customizer. The Featured Content area displays when your front page is set to show your latest posts – use it to make sure your best articles get noticed.

    Canard displays posts’ Featured Images prominently in both the Featured Content area and above post and page titles in the normal layout, quickly grabbing your readers’ attention.

    Select which posts to display with the “featured” post tag, or designate a different tag in the Customizer.

    This means in order to display posts in the Featured Content are, you must assign a featured content tag at Customize > Featured Content > Tag name. The tag name “featured” is just a suggestion. Any tag name may be assigned. Whichever tag assign as the Featured Content tag should be added to each post that you wish to appear in the Featured Content section.

    I have an issue with the 5 featured tags. As soon as I release a new post adn tag it “featured”, it just shows up in the section below, but not in the grid on top. It seems like the theme has to refresh or something. When I delete the “featured”-tag from an older post it also does not disappear from the grid on top. What can I do?

    @theblogcinematic,

    As soon as I release a new post adn tag it “featured”, it just shows up in the section below, but not in the grid on top.

    Evidently then, the Canard theme is not designed to show the latest five posts with the featured content tag assigned. It displays the first five assigned that tag.

    When I delete the “featured”-tag from an older post it also does not disappear from the grid on top.

    And it should. This would enable you to replace it with another post assigned the tag. I’ll tag the topic for staff attention. Please wait for staff to respond.

    It seems like the theme has to refresh or something.

    That might be a factor. Are you still encountering the issue after refreshing the home page?

    “Evidently then, the Canard theme is not designed to show the latest five posts with the featured content tag assigned.”
    I’m not sure this is true, as I haven’t test this hypothesis. I would presume that if you assigned the featured content tag to more than five posts, the five most recently published would display in the featured content area. If that’s not happening, you may ask staff about it.

    I have found a solution that works sometime. When I tag a post featured and it does not appear on top, I can go to Themes>Edit and then suddenly without doing anything it shows up in the featured section. I’m not sure this makes any sense, but maybe it helps you figuring out the real problem.

    I added the tag “feature” to the post and I still can’t get it to work. I also changed the Static Front Page and its still the same thing. What else do I need to do to achieve this?

    This is how they look, with the featured tagged and static page.

    Have you assigned a featured content tag for the site, at Customize > Featured Content > Tag name? As I mentioned above:

    The tag name “featured” is just a suggestion. Any tag name may be assigned. Whichever tag assign as the Featured Content tag [at Customize > Featured Content > Tag name] should be added to each post that you wish to appear in the Featured Content section.

    @myluxlifestyles,

    I can’t view your administrative pages, including the Customizer, since I’m a volunteer, not staff.

    @theblogcinematic,

    Thanks for the update. The delay might be due to a browser issue, but I’ll keep the topic tagged for staff attention, because what you describe is not expected behavior.

    @musicdoc1: I just tested this to verify. The five posts with the most recent publish dates will show in the grid.

    I added the tag “feature” to the post and I still can’t get it to work. I also changed the Static Front Page and its still the same thing. What else do I need to do to achieve this?

    @myluxlifestyles: You don’t currently have a tag set in Customize > Featured Content.

    Your four posts have the tag featured assigned to them. You’ll want to put featured into the field shown here.

    Once you do that, you’ll need to set your site back to showing posts on the front page. You can do that from Customize > Static Front Page. Select “Your latest posts” there and save the changes.

    That will make your site show the grid.

    I have found a solution that works sometime. When I tag a post featured and it does not appear on top, I can go to Themes>Edit and then suddenly without doing anything it shows up in the featured section.

    @theblogcinematic: I haven’t been able to replicate that problem. Could you open a new thread for this issue so we can help you troubleshoot it there?

    @dcoleonline

    Thank you so much everyone and especially you dcoleonline. It seems so small and minute that I would have to type in “featured” in the “Tag Name” box. I just figured that since it was telling me I could use the “featured” tag, I would only have to type a word there if I wanted it to be another word like “Play” for all the post. I had already typed “featured” in on the post but missed it in the Featured Content section under “Tag Name”.

    Thank you!!

    Anyone know how to center the pieces when they are on the main page for Canard?

    Can I change the order of images or visible thumbnail of the images in the grid on top of the page?
