Canard Theme Front Page Feature

  With the Canard theme, it allows 5 POSTS to be set as the feature post/image for the Featured Content and Featured Images area of the home page. I want to know if I can instead have these 5 spots display the Parent Category Name/Image. For example, one of the images could be called Events. A user would select this static image which would then take them to an Events page where all the Event Blog posts are listed.
