Canard Theme – Projects thumbnails missing

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m using this theme and I think it’s very nice. But I found a problem: on the projects archive (“All projects”), the thumbnail of the single project (the featured image) is not displayed. Only the title of the project is shown in semi-transparency.

So instead the thumbnails are displayed in the other themes (Rebalance ):

This is the thumbnail of a photo post in Canard. You can also see the heading in white color, the same in the projects:

I hope you can correct the bugs soon. I thank you for your work, you are fantastic!

Hi there, I’m seeing the thumbnails on your site now for the posts. Did you get this resolved, or are you still not seeing them?

Hello, thanks for the reply. No, the problem is not solved.

    Hooray and you are welcome!

  • Thanks for this, @sottoquercia. I tried checking the theme demo to see if the portfolio project thumbnails are showing there, but the theme demo does not have a portfolio.

I’ll file a report on this for you, but in the meantime, feel free to make your own portfolio page by adding this code to a static page:

    [portfolio columns=3]

You can modify the parameters as you’d like:

Hello guys, thanks for the answers. I will wait for the definitive solution, while thanks for the interest and for this trick to temporarily solve the problem. You are very kind, thank you all!

  • You’re welcome! We’ll let you know in this thread when the issue has been resolved.

I take this opportunity to report another small defect: the link “Continue reading” in the thumbnail of the post in image format is white instead of being the color of the headings (green, in my case):

    Image Post:

    Gallery Post:

    Projects Archive:

  • Thanks. I would imagine it’s supposed to be white consistently if there’s a background image, but we’ll double check on this for you.

Did you have a preference one way or the other?

  • Unknown's avatar

I thought it could be a defect because in two formats out of three the link is colored. Thank you for your kindness. I do not know, you could even leave it like that and everyone will choose which of the two formats to adopt. In fact, there are no differences in the formatting of the post.

  • @sottoquercia It looks like the title colors were fixed, at least! But it turns out the theme designers actually didn’t want images on the portfolio page for this theme, so they won’t be adding them in.

You can get the images using the shortcode I mentioned, though. Just create a new page, then add this shortcode:
    [portfolio columns=3]

You can adjust the settings as you’d like. I used two columns on my test site, and it looks quite nice.

Hi supernovia, thank you so much for your kindness.

I do not understand, the author of the theme allows to show the thumbnail below the page of each project, but he does not want to see the thumbnails of all the projects in the archive page?

I suppose he also wanted to see the title of the project in transparency, as it was before.

It seems really strange and presumptuous for me.

You have been really kind, I thank you very much for the time you have dedicated to me.

    Thanks guys for the support.

  • Glad we could help here, @sottoquercia :) And yeah, I’m not sure why that particular design decision was made, but we did confirm it’s intentional.

Did you get a chance to try the shortcode?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi @supernovia, I tried the code you recommended and it works.

I would have preferred to use the original structure of the theme, but unfortunately I have never seen the projects archive without thumbnails. In this theme, the author decided so.

Thank you again for your help, you’ve been really kind.

  • sottoquercia – Glad we could help sort out a bit of a work around for this. Cheers!
