  You can retain the domain URL, and get a refund for the remainder of the upgrade, and then move your content into a wordpress.ORG install.

  Know that if you cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it so if you want to keep it and use it on another site please let Staff know that.

  You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel an upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.

  WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

  Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

  Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades.   Hi there,

  It looks like you registered a domain and a Google Apps subscription only yesterday. Are those the upgrades you wish to cancel?

  You should be able to do so directly from the Purchases page:
  http://wordpress.com/purchases/

  Let me know if you’re unable to cancel it there. If you need help cancelling it, please confirm that you understand that we don’t control when cancelled domains will become available again, and that we can’t guarantee you’ll be able to register it again somewhere else.
