  I think the wrong url was registered (less than 24 hours ago) and now we want to cancel the account so we can create a new account with the correct url. We want a private, stand alone url address of squamishmultifaith.org and what got created was squamishmultifaithdotorg.wordpress.com. We paid $24 CAD annual fee to register squamishmultifaith.org and also paid $60 CAD for a user email. Our understanding is we would be using squamishmultifaith.org so we do not know how squamishmultifaithdotorg.wordpress.com got created, except we choose the free option at the end, not the $99/yr option. How can we have squamishmultifaith.org without paying a lot. We are a non-profit organization and our funds are very limited.

  PS, I was able to change the url from squamishmultifaithdotorg.wordpress.com to squamishmultifaith.wordpress.com, but we want the independent url without the “.wordpress.com”

  In order to have squamishmultifaith.org appear as your WordPress.com sire URL, you need to set up Domain Mapping:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  @timethief – Thanks for your assistance, really appreciate it.

  staff-ozmodiar (Staff) Apparently the url, squamishmultifaith.org, is not registered yet. We processed it thru WordPress, but the cc charge has not posted yet, so maybe there is a delay from WordPress admin. Can you please look into the account to see if there is any problem registering the domain, thanks.

  I am not seeing a successful upgrade purchase on your account. And I am seeing squamishmultifaith.org as an available domain to register. So I would encourage you to try and register it again. For some reason, it did not go through the first time.
