  Hi, I went onto WordPress to see how it might work and set up an account. I have no idea what is ‘live’ as this doesn’t seem clear??
  I do not want anything to be live when there is no content (of course)!

  To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

  BTW and FWIW as it takes weeks for search engines to index content https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/ I never slow that process down by making any of my new blogs private. I simply do not tell anyone they exist and as they don’t know the urls whether or not there is content matters not.

  Thanks timetheif… I had a panic then found the setting you mention. I am used to working in WordPress but on a site that’s quite different to the template I was playing with. Thanks again
