Cancel Account and all associated sites

    I need to cancel my account and associated sites; however, when I try to do this it says I have an active subscription that I need to cancel first. When I go to the purchases, I do not see this. Can you please help me cancel any open subscriptions.

    Hm, I don’t see anything that would be preventing that on the account you’re currently logged in to.

    Well, it is not working; however, I admit it is probably a user error on my part. Is there someone I can call and talk to that can help me close my account? When I go to Settings and select Delete your site permanently I get the message “You have active paid upgrades on your site. Please cancel your upgrades prior to deleting your site. Thank you.     Hi there,

    I see that both your plan and your domain have been canceled, so you shouldn’t have any trouble closing your account.

    Please try once more and let us know if you still see that message.

    It is still not working. Can I please get a telephone number where I can reach out to customer service to complete this action. I need to delete my site and associated pages so that people cannot get to it. Thank you.

    Hi Dana,

    Your account is an admin on tjssmokehouse.net, but you don’t own the site itself, nor do you own the upgrades associated with that site. The site and the domain belong to two other accounts respectively.

    The other user who owns the domain on the site will need to cancel it before the site itself can be deleted.

    To close your account, go to the page at https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs, and click the “Leave Blog” link that will appear when you move your mouse cursor over the site title. Then try closing your account again.

    To be clear, this will only delete your tjanddanamclean username account, and will not cause the site itself to be deleted.

    P.S. I see the tjssmokehouse.net domain actually expired on 11 January. However, it will only be removed from the site once it goes through redemption and gets deleted by the registry, which should be some time towards the end of March.

    If you leave your account open and stay a user on the site, you will be able to delete the site once the domain gets removed automatically – as an Admin user you have that ability. Meanwhile you should be able to set the site as private – that will also make the site inaccessible and will cause it to be gradually removed from search engines, same as deleting would. You can do that at Settings ->General as well.

    But you won’t be able to delete the site while the domain is still connected to it, only once it’s completely removed.

    If you don’t want to wait for that to happen, you’ll need to contact the person who created this site for you, and that owns the domain, and ask them to manually cancel the domain so you can delete the site.
