Cancel auto renew
-
I went under the “dashboard” >”store”>”my upgrades”> and removed the auto renewal for my “premium” package. I wonder what I should do with the domain (normally costs) …do I need to “cancel the domain?” I’ll be going from a wordpress theme with custom dot com to stylelynx.wordpress.com (at least until I am ready to go back to the premium package again.)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How important is the domain name stylelynx.com to you? In general, it’s a bad idea to let an important domain name expire. If you lose it, there’s always the chance that you won’t be able to get it back again if you want it in the future. There are domains that I wish to this day I hadn’t let go of. Someone else snapped them up and that was that.
But that is personal opinion more than “WordPress.com staff official”. Of course WordPress.com is just as happy to have you as a blogger with stylelynx.wordpress.com as your domain as we are if you were using stylelynx.com.
I just know how frustrating it can be to lose a domain.

Unfortunately, “rootjosh,” it’s more of a budgeting decision. I’ll just have to hope that it stays open for me to switch back to down the road. What can I do to move my information over to stylelynx.wordpress.com? Am I able to move the Theme – I payed for (it was a one time fee) – to stylelynx.wordpress.com? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

You do not have to move anything. It is all there already. All you should do is to go to your site’s dashboard and click on Store–> My Domains and change stylelynx.wordpress.com to be your site’s primary domain.
Let me know if you have any trouble.
-
What happens to my followers then?
Absolutely nothing. They will still be the same place they always were. That is the reason that all WordPress.com sites have a ________.wordpress.com URL. So that you can go back to that URL without losing any information.
-
I went to the location and changed that radio button to select “stylelynx.wordpress.com.” When I went back to the top of my screen to “my stats” and “visit my blog” …I keep getting the black screen announcing to me that my blog address “stylelynx.com” has been expired for three days. I have tried selecting “cancel”(yesterday) but I keep coming back to this screen. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
-
I should have that fixed for you now. Can you give it another try and let me know? You may need to clear your browser’s cache if you are still seeing the “expired” screen.
-
Yes, it is fixed now. Thank you! So the theme I purchased is not able to be used now? Also, if I wanted to go back to my custom domain is it just $27. (domain name) +$8.00 (privacy)?

Yes, assuming that your domain name is available to be registered again.
-
Great about the themes. How would I apply it again?
Good information about the cost of the custom domain. Thank you. -
According to what I am seeing, http://stylelynx.wordpress.com/ is currently using the Publisher theme, which is the one you purchased.
-
Maybe the background color just switched. Also, someone let me know that they can’t find my blog using the old url. Is there “mapping” that I need to do?

Which do you mean by “old URL”? stylelynx.wordpress.com is where people should go to find your site now. Anyone going to stylelynx.com will not get to your site.
-
Oh, then I misunderstood an earlier statement you made. (Yes stylelynx.wordpress.com=old url) So then my followers from stylelynx.com won’t be able to instantly transfer to my stylelynx.wordpress.com url? I just want to make sure I’m clear on this. I appologize.

Perhaps we are using different meanings for the word “followers”.
This is the sort of “followers” I was referring to:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/followers/
Your followers will still see your posts in their WordPress.com reader and they will still get email notification of new posts (if they have signed up to do so).
-
I meant followers as in all. Like followers subscribed to my blog by email, on the blog site itself, etc.
-
Your followers shouldn’t be sent to the incorrect URL. Now, it’s possible that their browser is still using cached information and trying to look for your old URL. Clearing their cache should fix that.
