Cancel auto renewal
-
Hi. We received a notice that our account will auto renew in 59 days. I’d like to cancel this, but when I log into manage purchases it’s not showing any purchases or any premiums plans. The account was originally set up by a former employee, I’m guessing that’s why I don’t have the option to cancel. How can I take care of this? Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner of that upgrade.
Typically this happens because you ended up with a second WordPress.com user account at some point and THAT account is the one that was used to purchase the upgrade. You will need to log into that second account in order to cancel the upgrade.

So, without access to the account that owns the upgrade, you can’t cancel the upgrade. While frustrating in a situation like this, it is a security measure to make sure that nobody can maliciously cancel an upgrade that they do not own.
Have you tried the account recovery system:
-
Yeah, didn’t work. We’ll just contact the credit card company and let them know the charge is not authorized and to block/cancel any payments going to WordPress. Thanks
-
If you have access to the payment information for the upgrades on that site, you can get a transaction ID from PayPal which you can use on the account recovery form:
Retrieving a PayPal Transaction ID
I ask you to please do this so you can regain access to the correct account. If you file a dispute against us instead, you’ll effectively be accusing us of fraud and your site will be taken offline as a result, and you’ll need to regain access of the other account in any case to get it back online, in addition to paying a fine.
-
I don’t have access to the account. I won’t know which card the former employee used until we get the unauthorized charge.
-
Didn’t you print out the receipts of the upgrades for your accounting records? The transaction IDs will appear on those as well, and then we can help you gain control of the account.
If you can pre-emptively block payments to us that might prevent the renewal without triggering the chargeback process, so that’s something else you could try. I think that might be what you meant before :)

obviously he didn’t otherwise i wouldn’t be having this conversation. how about you go ahead and cancel the account. if you can’t figure that out, we’ll mark it unauthorized since i’m not authorizing it. k? thanks

As staff-ozmodiar also said above, we can’t cancel an upgrade unless it’s the verified owner requesting it.
