um, I’m not sure why but I transferred the domain upgrade, and now my old site is redirecting and I’m apparently unable to delete the old address permanently. I thought I domain upgrade transfer simply transferred the upgrade to enable a new domain name, but it appears that it just redirects the old one, which I do not want. If this is the case can I please cancel my domain and delete my old site. I only wish for my new site to be active and I would like for it to stand alone. I’m not worried about a refund, and a domain upgrade is not necessary right now. Thanks for any help you can give me.

It also seems as though my new site has assumed my old site’s address. Considering I didn’t want it available any more this is definitely not what I want. Eeek! Please help!

I’ve modlooked this topic for staff to take a look. Can you please provide where you want the domain, and which site you want to delete? Then subscribe to this thread so you’ll be notified when someone responds.

Thanks for your assistance. Is there anyway I can have this conversation privately? I really want my new blog to go unnoticed, and I am being googled by someone I don’t wish to know my new address. I don’t want my new address to be private, I just don’t want to mention it here, where I seem to be being followed. I would like to delete athousandshadesofmelancholy.com, however I transferred the upgrade to my new site and now I don’t know how to untransfer it without losing my new site url. This is all so confusing. I don’t seem to have access to my new site at all now, but I’d really like to be able to have some kind of support without it being posted on a community forum. I really hope that’s possible.

I can post the new url if this thread can be permanently deleted afterwards, but otherwise, no, because I don’t want one particular person to find it by googling my old address, and he does that, often, and it scares me. my old address is http://www.athousandshadesofmelancholy.com
when I transferred the domain upgrade to my new site, it somehow linked them, and now I don’t understand how to unlink them. I thought I was merely transferring the upgrade to form a new domain name, but it has only redirected it and is no longer even showing my new address, which I really want to keep. When I tried deleting my old site, it said I still couldn’t, but that was the whole idea in the first place. Sorry for all this confusion. -
Also, I tried changing the url of my old address, from athousandshadesofmelancholy.com to temporarily disable the link until the page was domain was cancelled and the page deleted, but again, it has just linked the two, meaning that when I typed up the url it redirected to athousandshadesofmelancholy.com and now it is redirecting to athousandshadesofmelancholy.com but showing my new page (but still under my old url, which I wish to delete permanently still. So I went from having a url I wanted deleted, permanently attached to the new page/url I wish to keep, which I don’t wish to name for privacy reasons, or make private, because it is only one person I wish to keep away.

Okay, I believe staff will be able to handle this situation. Please be patient while you wait for a response. As a volunteer, I cannot see the sites you haven’t named so you’ll have to wait for staff response. If you are in danger please take legal steps to protect yourself.

One thing you could do in the meantime is to set the sites to private:

Just to clarify, if you want to cancel your domain athousandshadesofmelancholy.com it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and it may not choose to do so. We can’t guarantee that your domain will ever be available to you again once canceled. If you have any intention of using athousandshadesofmelancholy.com again in the future, I suggest that you do not choose to cancel.
Please confirm that you understand and want to cancel your domain. Once you have done so, I will cancel it and remove the upgrade from your account.
Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

I’m just wondering, why is the my new address saying this now ‘Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.’I accidentally transferred the domain upgrade assuming this gave me a whole new domain name, but it only redirected the old address to the new address, linking the two. Am I unable to use my new address now? I really want to and do not care about domains etc. I just want the wordpress site/blog title that I have chosen to replace the old one. Is there anyway I can undo what I have done by this upgrade transfer, now that there is no longer any domain registered?
