Cancel Domain

  I was just charged to renew my domain. I would like to cancel and receive a refund. I know that I’m supposed to go to ‘manage purchases’ then ‘cancel and refund’. However, the only purchase that shows is the one scheduled for next year. I’ve tried to click that anyway, but it says ‘This upgrade cannot be cancelled.’

  Please help!!

  Then it could be that you are not logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrades for it. That is required.

  Exactly which username account purchased each upgrade?

  Exactly which underlying .wordpress.COM blog was each upgrade purchased for?

  WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

  Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

  You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

  Important note: If you purchased a domain name via wordpress.com Staff need to know whether or not you want to keep the domain name and use it on another site.

  Hi there,

  I can go ahead and cancel mskatelinrobertson.com for you.

  So that we are on the same page, once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it.

  If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page.
