cancel domain and get a refund of the money that I didnt authorize wordpress to take from my account

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I need a refund. WordPress does not have a direct link to a phone to talk to someone. And they took an unauthorized debit from my Paypal account!!
Go to subscriptions to cancel and it is a loop so you dont have a way to cancel. I’m going to start a complaint with Paypal.

    Hello there,

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

You can manage all of your WordPress.com purchases by navigating to the Me section of WordPress.com and then choosing the option to Manage Purchases from the sidebar.

Select any purchase in order to view options for managing it. The options available will be different based on the upgrade you choose.

    Canceling and Refunding Purchases
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#canceling-and-refunding-purchases

    Refunds https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/ are time limited.
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received.

    What are the specifics please?

Which username account and site URL does this relate to?

Unfortunately, you failed to provide any details. Automattic Inc. https://automattic.com/ owns WordPress.com and other products like Akismet and VaultPress, etc. so this could be a charge related to one of them. It’s important to know that each charge is sent to the registered email address for each username account, so if you have more than one username account that could be confusing you. Also, if you have a wordpress.org account and a wordpress.com account that could be confusing you.

To address any and all billing issues like this one we can click https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/ and we can also use this form (which works even when the main contact form is closed): http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?whywasi=charged

  • Hi there,

You filed a dispute with either PayPal or your bank, so we have issued you a charge back fee.

Can you please contact your bank or credit card company and ask them to cancel the dispute. If you’re able to do that and they haven’t refunded the charge yet, we’ll be able to remove the chargeback fee and restore your site. However, if the chargeback has already been completed, i.e. your bank is refunding you, then you will need to pay the fee to unlock your site. Please let me know if you’re able to cancel the dispute with your bank.

Your stats and your content are all safe. But because chargebacks are a very serious matter we lock any site with a pending chargeback until the matter is resolved. You can find more information here:

    Chargebacks and Disputes

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

  • Also, for clarification, you were set up for auto renew when you set up the mapping subscription for martisterne.com on 4/21/2015 and we have been auto renewing that subscription with your authorization ever since. We auto debited your account last year without issue and did the same this year.

I called you May or June last year and asked that my account be closed.

  • Unknown's avatar

And I dont have a need for a site nor have I since then. So what are you talking about charging me another fee called a chargeback?

  • Unknown's avatar

There is no phone support here at WordPress.com and never has been. We have no idea who you called. Please proceed as Staff stated above.

  • As @Timethief mentioned, we have never had phone support here at WordPress.com. Also, we do not close accounts, we usually provide you instructions on how to tightly close your account if that is what you want to do.

Details regarding the chargeback are here:

    Chargebacks and Disputes

They can usually be canceled with 10 days of issuing the case with PayPal. In the future, we could’ve happily made the refund for you without the hassle of going through PayPal or your bank. Feel free to post here or contact us at
    help@wordpress.com
when issues like this come up. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I closed my business and site in May or June last year. I want a refund.

  • When the user disputes a payment as fraud it gets put on hold by the payment processor (PayPal in this case) and we cannot refund it directly anymore.

Again, filing this dispute with PayPal is very serious which is why everything is handled this way. But, you can avoid the hassle of going through PayPal for this if you cancel the dispute so that we can refund the payment. Otherwise, it will result in a $20 fee to you and your refund can take much longer to process, up to 75 days. If you allow us to make the refund, it would take 7-10 business days.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Dispute is cancelled with you. Please refund my Paypal account.

  • Thank you! We’ll lift the chargeback from your account. It sometimes takes a few days for the cancellation to complete, but I will issue the refund once we are granted the ability to again.

    I’ll keep you updated. Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

The dispute is cancelled with Paypal as of several days ago. So I would like that refund of $13.00 now.

  • @mcsterne we’ve double checked; on our side it says the dispute is still active. Please check in with PayPal on this.

  • Unknown's avatar

Paypal sent me an email today to confirm they have cancelled the automatic payment with you as of today. So the dispute should be lifted from the account today.
Please try to refund the account on Tuesday. Thanks

  • Thanks, I’ve put a note in my calendar to check then. Cheers :)

  • Unknown's avatar

I spoke with Paypal and the dispute has been cleared. So please refund the $13.00 into my account.
