cancel domain and delete site

  I am trying to delete 3 blogs I no longer use but am told I can’t due to keeping access to domain registration; I’ve tried cancelling all three domains but I’m not sure it’s worked, is there a way to tell the domain has been cancelled? I don’t want to keep receiving a bill for the domains, I just want the sites deleted. Any help greatly appreciated!

  The blog above is not the one I want deleted; they are humbuzzwhistle.com , pagangypsy.net , spiritualsnippets.info
