WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

    Hi there,

We can’t issue a refund here, since you actually registered the domain here at WordPress.com. There’s a 48 hour refund policy for this.

If you want to map the domain to a different host, you’re welcome to do that:

Hi again. I am not trying to cancel the domain. Just the domain mapping to the word press site. I need to map the domain to the self host hosting.
I’ve tried to do that yesterday by going to Name servers and DNS – switching off “Use WordPress.com Name Servers” option and adding custom records under the “DNS records”, but this morning it all got switched back to “Use WordPress.com Name Servers”. I need this done asap. Why this is it switched? How can I cancel the mapping to the wordpress.com blog?

In addition, I’ve looked at the tutorial on how to update the A records, but this option is not available. It’s greyed out and says “Handled by WordPress” Please advise. Thank you

I have red just now that “Domain mapping upgrades falls within our 30-day refund window.” How do I cancel the Domain Mapping and get the refund? Also, how can I get support from this host if I have a problem? How often anyone is answering here? Thank you

  • @lylescollegenews sorry for the confusion. Domain mapping for an existing domain is refundable.

A domain registration, which has mapping built into it, cannot be refunded after 48 hours. You can point the domain to another host though. Do they have nameservers you can use?

Also, how can I get support from this host if I have a problem?

You’ll need to ask your new host about their support policies, but you can ask for WordPress help in the community forums: wordpress.org/support

I have no problem getting help from eHost – they have phone support.

My question is who can check the settings on WordPress?

I already updated the NS servers yesterday and somehow they got switched back to the old WP settings. I did it again at 7:30am this morning. It usually takes much faster to propagate. Just hoping there’s nothing else wrong with the settings on WordPress.

That would be you when you’re running your own installation. You can also hire folks to help with that. I know there are companies that offer monthly maintenance packages or other services.

I can see it’s working here now, so it should work for you soon, too.
