Cancel Domain Mapping
-
Hi, how can I cancel the mapping between my domain history-amazing.com and the blog I accidentally created historyamazing.wordpress.com which I deleted in an attempt to cancel the mapping? It was only done yesterday, so does that allow me a refund? Thanks

Staff can issue you a refund for the domain mapping you purchased (within 48 hours). Please subscribe to this topic so you’ll be notified when someone responds.

If you want to keep the domain name, but host your site somewhere else, then you should not cancel your purchase. Rather take the domain name to your self-hosted site.

Hi there,
I just canceled and refunded your domain mapping upgrade. (Please note it can sometimes take 1-2 weeks for refunds to appear in your bank account.)
Your domain history-amazing.com is still pointing to WordPress.com, so if you’d like to use the domain somewhere else you can update its name servers to point it to another host. Your domain registrar can help you with that if you need.
Just let me know if I can do anything more to help. :)

Hi. I have my host (Hostgator) using wordpress from cpanel, but every time I try to go on it to edit my site, it still sends me to the free one, meaning I can’t do anything with my domain :(

Hi there,
You’ll need to point your domain’s name servers to your host (Hostgator). That’s controlled by your domain registrar, not WordPress.com, so you’ll need to get in touch with them for help with that step. Based on your domain’s public details, it looks like GoDaddy is your domain registrar:

If that’s right, this GoDaddy support page should help you change your domain’s name servers so you can point it to Hostgator:
