cancel domain registration

  I want to cancel my domain registration and then delete my site (techwriteratlarge.com). The link to delete the site states that it cannot be deleted because I have a domain registration upgrade. The links in ‘my upgrades’ do not have anywhere to click to delete the registration, only to remove the private registration. The information in your site about cancelling domains is entirely geared towards people trying to get a refund within the first 24 hours after registration. It states “If it’s been more than 2 days since the purchase date, you will not receive a refund but the domain can still be canceled by contacting support.”

  Please cancel my domain registration techwriteratlarge.com and all paid upgrades.
  Then please delete my site techwriteratlarge.wordpress.com

  I’d be happy to cancel techwriteratlarge.com for you.

  Before I proceed, there are a few points I need to cover.

  If we cancel your domain, it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and we can’t guarantee that your domain will be available to you again, once canceled.

  If you want to keep using your domain, but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page.

  Once you confirm how you’d like to proceed, I will get started processing your transaction, and will forward instructions on how you can delete your site.

  Hi pmciano,

  Thanks, I understand that I may forever lose control of “techwriteratlarge.com”, that’s ok. I do not intend to use the domain name elsewhere, and I do not want to transfer it. Please help me to simply cancel/release the domain name registration.

  If you want to permanently delete your site, follow the guide below:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/

  Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.

  If you want to hide your site instead, you can use the following guide to make your site private so only you and other members of the site can view it when logged in:
