cancel domain with another host

  once I map an existing domain to wordpress do I cancel the hosting with another isp
  ? I maintain the domain registration thru whomever but do I need them for hosting any longer. It appears I don’t.
  The blog url below is a class example but my company domains are the issue

  You do not need a hosting plan. But you do need to continue to register your domain name.

  The only hosting you might still want would be for email, but you can get email-only plans from various providers.

  For the record, WordPress.com has two email options:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

  and

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/
