Cancel Mapping Domain

I need help either getting my mapping domain to work or to cancel it all together. I am having trouble with the DNS? I’m not sure how to finish updating that so when you click on my new domain it goes to my page. As of right now it is going to a random search site . I tried to cancel and get a refund for my domain, but it keeps telling me to contact support for a request but there is nowhere to contact anyone. Can someone please help guide me?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Currently you have ironeyelashes.com mapped to WordPress.com but not registered. In order for the domain to work with your blog, you must have it registered and mapped to WordPress.com. You initially had the domain both registered and mapped with us, but you cancelled that subscription before the expiration date.

I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore ironeyelashes.com to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form of $5 so that you can repurchase the registration of the domain.

Let me know if you are interested in reclaiming the domain and I will contact our registrar. Otherwise, I’d be happy to refund you for the purchase of the domain mapping.

    Thanks!

    Hello darnelldibbles,

I used to have the business plan but had to cancel that a few months ago due to financial reasons. However, when I was speaking to someone on the support chat, the way I understood it was that I would get bumped back down to the free version (which is perfectly fine with me for now) but would keep the domain of ironeyelashes.com since I had paid for it. I was just trying to set it back up as I saw today that for some reason I no longer had that domain.

If ironeyelashes.com is still available, would you be able to set everything up for me so that it reads as ironeyelashes.com instead of ironeyelashes.wordpress.com? I am not very tech-savvy in that way so I have no idea how to even do that? I would be happy to pay that $5. Otherwise, a refund would be perfectly fine as well.

Thank you for responding to my post.

  • Hi there,

I contacted the registrar about reclaiming your domain and will touch base with you once I hear back from them. Then, I’ll set it all up for you if we are able to retrieve it.

    Thanks!

Hi there! We just heard back from our registrar and because of the time since cancellation there will be an additional $80 redemption fee for the domain.

Let me know if you’d like to go forward with the redemption and I can send you a payment request for that.

    Hello,

The thing is, I never got rid of ironeyelashes.com – so I’m not sure why I need to pay another $80 to get it back… When I spoke to the support person a few months back I explained that I would just like to downgrade my account from business back to the free template. They said that would be fine but I would be able to keep my domain since I had paid for it. Is there any way that I can get it back? I’m not sure why it was taken away in the first place.

  • Sorry for the confusion. If a domain is cancelled within the first 48 hours of registration, it may be released within a week or so. Older domains aren’t released so quickly, though. In your case, the domain was nearly a year old when you cancelled it.

We’ll contact you privately with more details. Best.
