  I was wondering if it’s possible to cancel the domain cancellation?

  Hey there,

  You canceled the domain within 5 days of registering it, so it should be available again soon. Once a domain name is deleted by the registry at this stage, it is immediately available for registration by any registrant through any Registrar, and that happens shortly after the 5 day grace period.

  We can immediately restore the domain for you within that 5 day period, but after that, we no longer have control over it. So, depending on where you want to register the domain (with us or elsewhere), you should decide ASAP on how you want it re-registered. You can always point the domain over to your host from WordPress.com until 60 days of registration hits (where you can transfer the domain anywhere you please). That will at least guarantee you will get it back without any potential complications. Let me know.

  Hi Darnell,

  The reason I want it back is to ensure that it’s not lost permanently due cancellation.

  My original issue was that I created the domain on a wordpress.com account, before realizing that what I needed for my site’s purpose is a self-hosted wordpress.org site.

  I canceled the domain because I intended on buying it back through Hostgator. I then read a few articles that stated that domains can be lost forever once canceled. If you have any further info on this, it would be great!

  However, if the domain won’t be lost due it being canceled within 5 days and will (definitely?) be available soon, id like to continue with my original plan of cancelling it and buying it back through Hostgator.

  Hi there,

  I’m not confident confident to say definitely, but I can say most likely. It is possible for domain squatters to purchase the domain and will probably charge a ridiculous amount for you to get it back from them.

  However, most people are able to register their domain without issue. I just wanted to share that potential warning.

  Hello, I am in the same situation. Could you please help? I purchased a domain today and cancelled after 30 Mon, finding out that I could use a subscription plan and get the domain for free. Now I can’t see the domain in the list. Could you please help me get the domain back with the standard subscription plan? Regards, Alex Bodoli
