    Good Morning,

I need cancel the premium plan, because I don’t need more the WordPress, but I need my domain, registered in my name. And then, please how do I cancel the site and keep the domain?
    My domain is “angelicasantiago.com.br” .

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

It looks like your Premium plan was purchased 106 days ago, on September 27, 2014. The domain angelicasantiago.com.br was added, included with the Premium plan.

The Premium plan is only refundable for 30 days after purchase, but if you want I can cancel it for you and leave the domain available, just without a refund.

However, you can still change the domain’s name servers to point somewhere other than WordPress.com, or transfer the domain to another registrar, while leaving the Premium plan intact until it expires in September. Just in case you want to use WordPress.com again, and the Premium plan will be there.

Please let me know if you’d still prefer to cancel the premium plan (of course, still keeping the domain) or if you need help with either of those changes to the domain’s settings.

    Hi Alex,

    Thank you for return.
I’d like to cancel and yes keep the domain.
When the WordPress if canceled I paid the domain for you? Or where?

If I cancel the domain it will be available in how long?

    Hi Angelica,

I’ve cancelled the Premium plan at your request. Since we’re just canceling the Premium plan, but keeping the domain, your domain will be available through September 29, 2015.

When that date comes, you can renew the domain here:

    https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

If you cancel the domain, it will be completely unavailable and put up for auction privately with the domain registrar. More explanation on how that works here:

Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

If you want to continue using the domain, just not at WordPress.com — rather than cancel I would suggest changing the domain’s name servers to point the domain to whatever service you do want to use:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

What hosting service would you like to use going forward? I’m happy to help change those name servers for you too.

Hi Alex, it’s me again =(

When I go to my domain (angelicasantiago.com.br) appears WordPress site, why? Was not canceled and excluded?

I need to use this field on another site and I can not, because when access “angelicasantiago.com.br” appears blog.

    Please, help me.

When I try to delete the blog, appears:

If you do not want to use your site any more please make it private. Other users will not be able to visit the site but you can still access the Dashboard so you can get to the domain manager.

    Hi Angelica,

Like I said before, the domain angelicasantiago.com.br is intact, we only canceled the Premium plan.

If we cancel angelicasantiago.com.br, you will not be able to re-register it or use it elsewhere, it will unavailable for at least 80 days and perhaps forever.

Since you want to use angelicasantiago.com.br somewhere other than WordPress.com, we need to change its name servers to point to the service you want to use.

    (Instructions on Changing Name Servers)

Please let me know what that service is, and I’m happy to help you set that up.

Or, we can transfer the domain to another registrar if your new service accepts incoming domains. Some do, some do not.

When I try to delete the blog, appears:
If you do not want to use your site any more please make it private. Other users will not be able to visit the site but you can still access the Dashboard so you can get to the domain manager.

We do not allow you delete a blog with a domain assigned to it, so that you do not unintentionally lose access to that domain. Since canceling a domain cannot be undone — and it may be gone forever, we try to make sure you don’t lose it.

This is the case for you as well — it sounds like you want to use angelicasantiago.com.br, just not at WordPress.com. You should not cancel it, otherwise it will be gone for at least 80 days, potentially forever — not just here at WordPress.com, but anywhere. If not for that warning you may have lost angelicasantiago.com.br.

Please let me know what new service you plan to use angelicasantiago.com.br with, so I can help you get that domain setup there.

    Hi Alex,
I want to switch to the Wix domain (http://www.wix.com/)
    Can you help me, please?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Definitely want to help. :)

Wix cannot accept domain transfers of .com.br domains. So we’ll point your domain to Wix using name servers.

Make sure you’ve upgraded your plan at Wix to allow use of a domain name. (Wix requires this.)

Then follow these steps so that Wix knows to receive that domain for your site:

    http://www.wix.com/support/html5/domains/connecting-domains-purchased-elsewhere/tutorial/connecting-your-domain-using-name-servers

When you get to the Setup with Registrar section, please tell me the name server records we need to point to. (I cannot do this myself, the name servers for Wix change with every site, so you must be logged in as that site to see the name servers required.)

I’ll then adjust your name servers for angelicasantiago.com.br accordingly.

    Hi Alex,

I can pass the codes of the servers here? In the public forum?
    Has danger I do this?

    Hi Angelica,

We can certainly do it over email if you’d feel better.

I’ve sent you a message from help at WordPress.com with the subject line “re: Cancel premium plan urgent!”

Reply there and we can finish up the name server change over email. :)
