Cancel private domain
-
I am trying to cancel the private domain so I can transfer my domain to GoDaddy without waiting 60 days and the option is not appearing.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The 60 day limit is set by ICANN and there working around it. Are clear on that? http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/
See here please http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/#remove-private-registration -
So, if I have a private domain, I have to wait 60 days to transfer after making it non-private?
I don’t even have the option to remove the privacy.

Hello, I have the exact same problem as Ibaronesjn. The domain I need help with is sourceforums.net
-
I am transfering to GoDaddy too but I do not wish to wait for another 60 days for my domain to expire.
-
To make sure that only you can transfer your domain, the process includes several checks and controls, and takes a few days to complete. For new domains and after changing whois contact information, there is a waiting period of 60 days before a transfer can be initiated. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

Yes and when Staff have answered all the threads tagged for their attention before this one was tagged, they will respond here to lbaronesjn and then to you.

Hi lbaronesjn – The 60 day limit is for transferring any domain. Until then, you can use your domain with another site by updating the name servers:
Change name serversI can remove the privacy for you now if you like, but that still won’t enable you to transfer it until the 60 days are up. You don’t have to remove privacy in order to change your name servers.
SourceForums – your domain is over 60 days and is not currently private. If you still want to use it with another site, you should transfer it rather than cancel it. If you cancel it, there’s no guarantee it will be released for you to register again.
You can transfer it now if you like by following these instructions:
If you have any trouble, please let me know which step you’re getting stuck at, and what happens when you try to follow it.
-
What do you mean by no guarantee that it will be released for me again? If there is no owner, shouldn’t it be released automatically? (I would prefer to cancel it and repurchase it as if I do that, I get this special offer from another site.)
-
The domain is set to expire prior to the 60 days and I’ve already paid for the new domain registrar. Now what?
-
I also get the following information when requesting the transfer.
“You recently purchased a domain registrar transfer for:
CELTICSENTINEL.COM
To complete this transfer, we need approval of the administrative contact for this domain name. However, the administrative email address obtained from your current registrar is invalid, or could not be obtained.
The current administrative email address is .
After you update the administrative email address on file for this domain at your current registrar, you may reinitiate this transfer.”

A domain registrar can hold onto a canceled domain for some time and if and when to release it is at their discretion. Your domain does not expire until the end of November, so there’s no reason not to simply transfer it and avoid any possibility that you could lose it.
lbaronesjn – I’m sorry, I misread the dates on your domain and thought you’d only recently registered it. You can indeed transfer it now, but I do need to remove the privacy for you, which I’ve now done. Can you please try this again? Let me know if you still have trouble!
