Cancel subscription

  Hi
  Is there possible that i cancel my hosting plan at wordpress.com but i would to keep my domain name there, after that i will make a hosting subscription to bluehost using my existing domain that i retained at wordpress ?

  how long should i wait to register to bluehost after i cancel my subscription in wordpres.com ?

  Hello,

  If you cancel your wordpress.com plan, you will keep the domain in your ownership, but it will be disconnected from your current wordpress.com website since the custom domain is only allowed with paid plans.

  You can register BlueHost account aside from the wordpress.com. They are not connected and will not be in any way.
  Self-hosted websites, like the one you will have on BlueHost, are using the WordPress software and its not related to wordpress.com platform.

  i just think i will loose my $78 if i regist to bluehost while my wordpress hosting still active.

  Or i must cancel subscription first on wordpress then i will start to register bluehost plan ?

  could you please give me a step by step so the process would be smooth and of course it can give me a little saving.

  sorry for my hassle question im a beginner and just dont want to make mistake because of this.

  and i dont think to do a migrate or export/import since my blog is just baby born.

  Hi there,

  You can see here how to use a domain you have registered with us with a site at another provider like Bluehost:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

  You can either leave the domain registered here and point it to Bluehost, or you can transfer it away from us and move it to them completely, provided you’ve owned it for at least 60 days.

  But do not cancel the domain – if you do you run the risk of losing it, as we cannot guarantee if or when the domain will become available again to use somewhere else.

  The information you provided here is not correct. Cancelling a plan does not disconnect a domain from a site.

  Please don’t make statements like that unless you can provide a link to documentation or to a recent forum reply by a staff member that supports your answer.

  I apologize for the confusion.
  If the plan is canceled, the domain will stay connected until the current subscription period is active, that I am aware of.

  But when the plan expires after it is canceled, or the refund is requested and processed, I thought that the website will revert to the original WordPress.com subdomain.

  Again, sorry for the confusion.
