Cancel WordPress Hosting

    Hi WordPress!

I need to cancel my hosting with you. I turned off “automatic renewal” so my hosting may be at an end anyway. I just didn’t want to delete in the dashboard using tools in case I ever want to come back.

The reason I left is because my web designer made me new pages in Dream Weaver and he can’t upload to WordPress, he can only use your templates. So I’m leaving and a little sad to go.

Can you tell me what other actions I need to take so that visitors going to julieciviello.com will not go to the pages on WordPress?

    Thank you!

    Best,
    Julie Civiello

Was julieciviello.com. mapped to a blog here long enough that there are no links to the base blog that are being used?

If so then not much to do – set the blog to private and it will just sit there waiting for you to come back – no need to delete anything

If you did not have julieciviello.com. long enough for the base WordPress.COM links to disappear then the site redirect upgrade to send traffic from your base mapped blog (your-blog.wordpress.com) would help – then visitors with old bookmarks and such would not run into a wall

Or you can delete all the content (or set the Posts and Pages to Private – so they can’t be seen by visitors) and put a note on the front page that you have moved and have a link to your new site

Don’t delete the blog – that removes all your options
