Canceled domain — refund?

I did not agree to be charged an ‘upgrade’ nor to have this domain. I have canceled both. Will I get back the $30 for the domain I was charged that I just canceled since I am not using it? I really cannot afford this and when I signed up last year I didn’t know it was an autorenew thing (I HATE THAT) and most sites are nice enough to send out an e-mail to let you know you’re going to be charged on X date. I got none so I had no idea. I would like that $30 back as well since I canceled the domain.

I thought I might be able to do a web site – WRONG! What was I thinking? 75 years old and not all that saavy. This happened yesterday and I want to cancel. The information on line is not updated. Can anyone direct me to the proper place to start the ball rolling?
