Cancellation and Refund

I’ve cancelled my account three times in the past three days however I have not received any email with a cancellation confirmation link.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Sorry for any trouble with the cancellation process.

I have processed that refund for you and removed the upgrade from your account. Please be aware that it can take up to 7-10 business days for refunds to show up on your statement.

If you also would like to delete your WordPress.com site, there are options and instructions for doing so here:

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

    Dear Rootjosh,

My billing history shows a refund, however I have not received any refund in my account as yet. It has been more than 13 days since I placed the request. Could you please update me on the status of refund?

  • I see successful refunds from my end of things. Sometimes banks are frustratingly slow about updating refunds however. It might be worth a call to your banking provider to ask them if they can see it in their system.

    Dear Rootjosh,

I’ve checked with my bank and there is no transfer processed from wordpress as yet. You will understand that this is getting increasingly frustrating since it has been 18 days since you claim that the refund was successfully processed. Please provide me with a proof if the refund was successfully processed that I can show to my bank and inquire further. Please don’t make unnecessary excuses for delay which is at your end and not the banks.

  • Since we are going to have to get into transaction IDs and all that, I have sent you an email to the address on your WordPress.com account. Please post here if you do not get it.

I didn’t get any email. Which id did you sent it to?

  • It should have gone to your (email visible only to moderators and staff) address.

    Rootjosh,

I am tired of writing to you. I have not received any refund as yet in my account. This is highly unprofessional on wordpress’s part and against all promises that the company makes. It has been more than a month since you said that the refund has been processed. Please look into this and kindly give me an update as soon as possible. Also, I have not received any email on my address with respect to the details of refund. Stop fooling people. Please act up or just admit that you’re not going to refund my money.

  • I’m sorry you are still dealing with this. But it is really out of our hands.

When a refund is done, we tell our credit card processor to make the refund, and then we’re pretty much out of the loop once they confirm that they have run it.

90% of refunds take around 7 days. Another 5% can take up to two weeks. And sadly, a few refunds (frequently using non-US credit cards and especially non-north American or European credit cards) can take a month or more.

I don’t know why that happens and I wish there were something that I could do about it. But there is not. As I say, once we run the refund, it is out of our hands for the most part.

I understand your frustration. I’d feel the same way if I were you.

The lease you can do is give me details of the refund. Don’t try and wash your hands off it. I don’t know what you’re trying to say that you’re pretty much out of the loop once you process refunds. Surely, your bank company would report to you once the transaction has been successful. Don’t try and fool me here.

  • I can give you the transaction number, but I cannot post it publicly here on the forum. Which is why I sent you the email previously. I can send it again if you like.

That’s great. Please email the transaction details/number to me on (email visible only to moderators and staff) and (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  • I have sent email to both.
