Cancellation of domain name
-
Hi there,
I moved my domain name http://www.oubigdubaiadventure.com to a new website at godaddy.
Can someone please assist me in removing the domain name from my wordpress account?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://ourbigdubaiadventure.com/ is registered with GoDaddy and loads a WP site hosted on GoDaddy for me and it looks like your nameservers are pointing correctly to GoDaddy.
Your ourbigdubaiadventure.wordpress.com doesn’t redirect to the self-hosted domain.
If you are still seeing your WordPressdotcom site on your domain, you may need to clear your browser cache and cookies or check in a different browser. It can take up to 72 hours for DNS changes to spread throughout the interwebs, although usually it is faster.
At this point if you no longer wish to have your WordPressdotcom site visible to the public you might want to change your site’s Privacy settings to Private. This will keep it out of search engines and public view. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
If you have an annual Upgrade plan that needs cancelling, you can do so in your My Purchases. https://wordpress.com/me/purchases You do need to be logged in with the username that purchased the upgrade.
Going forward, if you have questions about using your WP software, you’ll want to post at https://wordpress.org/support If you don’t have a username there, you can register one on that page.
Good luck and best wishes with the new site. Let us know if you have any other question or run into any issues at this end of the equation.

HI there,
The transfer to GoDaddy was successful from what I can see, but just the one upgrade wasn’t removed from your account. That won’t have any effect on the functioning of your domain, but I’ve removed that for you so you should no longer see the domain on your Domains page.

Thanks a lot. Deleting the site will not affect my new website http://www.ourbigdubaiadventure.com, right?

Deleting your WordPressdotcom site will not affect your standalone site.
However, when you delete a site on WordPressdotcom, you not only permanently delete the content but also the site address from the system. No one, including you, will be able to use that site address in the future. That is the reason I suggested to make your site Private rather than permanently delete it. If you still wish to permanently delete the site, you can do so following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
If you have purchased a premium theme in the past on this site, you might need Staff assistance in removing it before you can delete your site. If you run into such an issue with upgrades, please post back here.

Aside from setting the site to private, as @justjennifer suggests, you can also consider adding the site redirect upgrade. That upgrade ensures that if anyone still visits your WordPress.com address, either through a browser bookmark, or an old link that was shared somewhere, they’ll be directed to your new site instead, so you don’t lose that traffic.
You can find out more about this upgrade here:
