Cancellation of Domain Pending – For several weeks.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

My domain, Jayleiart.com expired over 30 days ago, at which point I decided I would like to cancel the domain rather than paying the renewal fee. I set my primary domain as jayleiart.wordpress.com, however when people browse to my site, they still receive a pop-up that states that the former url has expired.

I would like this cancellation request processed as soon as possible please, as this is my work portfolio site and the initial pop-up is impeding potential employers from viewing my work.

    Thanks!
    Jasmine

It sounds like you had an automatic renewal for your domain name upgrade. I’ve modlooked this topic for staff to help. If you subscribe to this thread, then you’ll be notified when someone responds.

Yes, I have submitted the cancel request (a few times now). Hopefully the staff can intervene to expedite the cancellation process, because a month seems to be abnormally excessive.

    Thankyou for your help.

It is also worth noting that in my Domain Settings, the domain in question is listed as ‘Cancellation Pending,’ and has been that way since I first submitted the request.

Are you still seeing an error message when you visit jayleiart.wordpress.com? When I visit the site I see your content without an pop-up. If you are still seeing the old site, it could be a caching issue. Here’s info on how to clear your cache.

The domain cancelation process can take some time, but you should no longer see any evidence of it in your WordPress.com account. If that’s not the case, please let me know where you are seeing the “cancellation pending” message and I’ll investigate further.
