Cancellation Problem
-
I haven’t used WordPress in man years but discovered on my credit card statement that you have been charging me a yearly fee. I tried logging into my account/domain, but it says the password is incorrect. Unfortunately, the email account associated my original account was cancelled after being exposed to hackers and I have no way to reset the password to log in. (I had to create a new account to log in and publish this; It is not linked to that account). I just want to cancel the subscription/account.

Hi there!
If you have the transaction IDs from charges on this account, you can use the Account Recovery form to prove ownership of the site, then WordPress.com support can help you from there. You can find that form here:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
Just fill out as much information as you have, including an email address where Support can get in touch. The transaction ID will be on your bank statement as
WordPressfollowed by a ten-digit letter/number code. They’ll look like this:WordPress XXXXXXXXXXYou can read more about what the account recovery process entails here:
https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
I hope that helps!

Thank you! Our account recovery team will work on next steps, but for what it’s worth, it seems you’re paying for a domain registration. Out of curiosity, do you know whether you’re keeping the domain name for anything else? You don’t have to use it with our services and can keep it for other things, if you’d like. Just know if you cancel it here, it will go into redemption and could be lost, so if you do intend to keep it, I’d recommend transferring or just continuing to renew here instead.
