Cancelled domain and account

I have tried to cancel my account and domain. Now when I look for the account as a check to see it is gone it is saying it is parked with automatic. What does this mean please?

When your domain is parked with Automattic, it means that Automattic will keep it for a little time before it is released again. They do this as an anti-fraud measure. It varies how long it will take before the domain is released again, but it could take anything from 5 days to more than a year. Read these two forum posts for more information about this:

https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-parked-get-unparked?replies=2Please note that you cannot cancel a WordPress.com account. @justjennifer, another forum volunteer, mentioned:
While accounts themselves cannot be deleted, you can follow this guide in order to lock up all your personal information and then walk away from the account https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ and this extended Staff reply here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/delete-account-forever-1?replies=3#post-2714085

Thanks for that info. I think I should have waited to transfer my domain but now I have cancelled the account and the domain is parked, is there anyway I can rectify this please?
Thanks -
There might be, depending on how much time has passed since you did it. The staff at WordPress.com might be able to do this, but they might not as well. I’ve tagged this for staff assistance, so a staff member will let you know shortly.

Sorry, the post is already tagged for staff assistance (modlook). I’m not taking credit for that =)

Hi jillyrogersphotography,
I think I should have waited to transfer my domain but now I have cancelled the account and the domain is parked, is there anyway I can rectify this please?
I have been able to restore jillyrogersphotography.com back to your account. You hadn’t been refunded yet, so there is no need for any additional payment. The domain is now active on your account and you can set it as your primary domain if you wish:
We don’t advise cancelling a domain unless you never plan to use it again, as there is no guarantee you will be able to get it back again.
It is only possible to transfer a domain 60 days after the registration date. This 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived.
Come back if me if you have questions or need any further help.
