Cancelled Domain Issues. I need it back ASAP!!
-
I canceled my domain yesterday, because my designer had said something about me using plug-ins, FTP, and other things that the word press site couldn’t do, or was trying to charge me for that I didn’t need to be charged for. So, I took her advice and requested a refund, which I did receive in my PayPal account. That said, I did a little bit more research, and it’s seeming like I’m going to have to wait 60 to 90 days to rebuy my domain under another site like host monster. Really, what it comes down to for me, is that I do not want to lose that domain! Can you please tell me how I can get my domain back quicker, or if there’s a way to contact the wordpress team to expedite it’s release back to the public so I can repurchase it through another vendor.

One clarification… I just double checked and I have not received the refund of $26 to my Paypal. Not sure if that makes a difference…

Howdy,
I’m contacting the domain provider to see if we can catch the cancellation in time. On our end, the refund has been processed, which can take a day or two to process.
If we’re able to get it back, I’ll send you a payment request for the price of the domain again. If not, it likely won’t take 60-90 days since it was a newly-purchased domain cancelled within the first two days of ownership, but still may take a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to expedite that process.
I’ll let you know as soon as I have confirmation.
As a bit more detail from what your designer was saying is that there are two flavors of WordPress—WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Here at .com, we take care of all of the technical side of things for you, provide a free site and only charge for upgrades. The downside is, for security, we don’t allow for plugins that we haven’t already included, custom themes, etc.
WordPress.org is the software that you install with your own hosting provider that you pay for separately. You have full freedom to modify the code or upload any theme/plugin you’ll like. You are responsible, though, for the technical operation of the site, troubleshooting if things go wrong, etc.
More about the difference can be read at WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
Cheers!

Hi again,
We were able to get the domain back and it has been added to your account. I sent you a payment request via e-mail.
Once you’re ready, you can change the nameservers to your other host by following these instructions: change name servers.
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know! Cheers!
