Cancelled Domain Name. When Will It Come Back?

I started a wordpress.com account, registered a domain, and bought one of the plans. I realized a few hours later I wanted to host on another site and cancelled the plan and my reservation of the domain name.
When you type in the domain name now, it says it’s “parked” with automattic. It’s also no longer available on other hosting sites. Will it become available again? What’s the time period for that?

There are two options:
1. Wait for the domain to be released
As you cancelled the domain so quickly, it should be released approximately 5 days after the cancellation date (8th August). You can then register it again elsewhere.
2. Restore the domain
The other option is I can restore the domain for you now — there will be no extra charge for me to do so as the domain costs haven’t been refunded yet. Once restored, the domain can then be transferred to another registrar 60 days after the registration date:

In the meantime, the name servers for your domain can be pointed to towards your new site until the domain is ready for transfer. If you choose this option, I can send you some instructions for doing so.
