Cancelled domain, when can I repurchase it?

    I canceled my domain. However, I see that it is not available to repurchase? When can I repurchase my domain?

    Site: (email visible only to moderators and staff).
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Cancelling a domain is a complicated process because it will put the domain into a waiting period – it won’t immediately be released to be repurchased elsewhere. During that time the domain could be repurchased by someone else if it hits the open market before you can buy it back.

    Can you let us know if sahithur.com is the domain you wanted to recover? If so, please let us know which of these options works best for you:

    Wait: You can wait about five days from cancellation for the domain to be released. So long as no one else buys it before you do, you can purchase it again with another provider.

    Repurchase the Domain: We can send an invoice and restore the domain. You’ll be able to point it to a new host as soon as it’s restored, then transfer the registration after 60 days.

    Repurchase a Plan: To host your site here after all, buy a plan, skip the domain option, then update us here.

    Hi,

    Thanks a lot for the response. Yes, I would like to restore that domain. I would like to wait for the domain to be available.

    So, by the end of next week, I should be able to buy the domain from another provider?

    If I would like to simply repurchase the domain, when is the last date by which I can do that?

    We have no way to know exactly when it will be released. Typically it’s around five days so I would start checking sooner than the end of next week or someone else could register the domain before you.

    You would have the same five-ish days to repurchase the domain from us.
