Cancelled my domain

I cancelled my domain and I see that it wont be available in public to buy again for a few months or so (correct me if I am wrong).

Now, my domain says “This domain is parked”. I dont want to use wordpress, it is so difficult, instead i will use other wordpress hosted platforms like Hostinger. But I dont have my domain now. How to get it back or transfer to Hostinger?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It wasn’t a great idea if you cancelled outside of the 96 hour refund window. That means the domain won’t become available to buy elsewhere until autumn 2025. You say you don’t want to use WordPress.com as it is so difficult but if you use the wordpress software at another company will that be less difficult? Building a site anywhere can be as easy or as difficult as you want to make it.

I would see if staff can recover your domain here and then you can point it to another host if you prefer. This thread is tagged for staff support but you may have to wait a while as it is the weekend.

    Hi there!

By canceling the domain, you risk permanently losing it. Domains go through a series of stages for cancellation, and there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to get it back, even with another registrar.

Since the domain registration fee was not refunded, and you clearly wish to use the domain, I’ve just restored the domain somethingisnotright.com for you.

A newly registered domain can’t be transferred for the first 60 days. You can transfer it to another registrar anytime after that. In the meantime, if you don’t want to use WordPress.com, you can point it to another host (like Hostinger) by changing its nameservers. Here’s how to do that:

Nameservers determine where your domain’s DNS is hosted and managed. This guide will show you how to change your domain’s name servers to point to WordPress.com or any other host. Important Considerations when Changing DNS Changing, or updating, your domain name’s servers means changing where your domain’s DNS records are managed. DNS records control many things, including: the website

I’m sorry to hear that you found WordPress.com difficult to use. I’d love to learn more about the site you’re looking to build. I’ll be happy to share specific guides with you to help you along the way. You may also consider hiring our experts to build the website for you through our website design service. Of course, that’s an optional service you can take advantage of if you want.

I also wanted to highlight what @themagicrobot wrote above. You can use a self-hosted WordPress.org site hosted elsewhere if that suits you better, but you will be responsible for many technical aspects, like keeping your site up to date, maintaining security, etc.

On WordPress.com, we take care of those technical things so that you can focus on creating content and designing your website. I understand that learning the website-building tools may take a bit of time, but if you use WordPress elsewhere anyway, you’ll be learning the same tools (like the Site Editor). In that sense, perhaps WordPress.com will be a better choice so that you don’t have to worry about technical things? :)
