Cancelled my domain on WordPress, now can't use it elsewhere!

    Hi there,

    In June, I received an e-mail telling me that my WordPress domain will be renewed automatically – but I chose to cancel it as I was no longer using that site and intended on moving the domain to another site after cancelling it. I now realise that I should have transferred the domain to another site, but I didn’t see this option at the time. It has been over two months and my domain is still not available for me to repurchase – I know for sure that it hasn’t been taken yet. It’s also a very rare name! I would be endlessly grateful if someone could help me out here, or at least give me an idea of when the domain will be available again?

    It looks like faridazeynalova.com expired in mid July and is still in the redemption period. Domains aren’t released (if they are released at all) until at least 90 days have elapsed. You could gamble that it may become available to re-register sometime in October or you could ask WordPress.com staff (by adding “modlook” to the tag box on the right) to attempt to recover the domain (although there are now increased costs in doing so).

    faridazeynalova.com expired on 2017-07-10 and is currently in the redemption period:

    We can still try to recover the domain but you will need to pay an $80 redemption fee in addition the $26 renewal cost. Just let me know if you would like to proceed and I can send a payment request for that amount. Once that has been paid, I will contact our domain registrar. If we are able to recover your domain it can then be transferred to another registrar.

    If you don’t want to pay the fee you can wait until the domain is released, although this can take 80 days or more. There is also no guarantee you will be the first to register it again.

    Please let me know which option you prefer and we’ll go from there.
