Cancelled WordPress domain no longer available?

    Hi there, I’ve been a number of threads regarding this problem but I thought I might get a direct answer if I tried myself.

    I registerd my domain, emmalapetite.com, with WordPress, and then I decided to delete it, not knowing that the domain would not be available again.

    When, if ever, will it be available again, say, through GoDaddy, and is there any way to speed up the process?

    Hi there,

    When you cancel a newly registered domain, it can take about a week for the domain to be fully cancelled and released by our domain registrar. At that point anyone can register the domain again.

    There’s no way for us to speed up that cancellation process, but if you’d like to purchase the domain again here at WordPress.com I can contact our domain registrar to try to recover it for you right away. If you’re setting up your site at another host like GoDaddy, I can also help you point the domain to that host so you can use it there.
