cancelling a domain mapping name

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I inadvertently mapped modelc.org to my kyoselileadership.cordpress.com blog and would like to cancel that mapping. I see no cancel button anywhere. Can someone do this for me?

    Thanks
    Sandy

    Greetings, @sbkyosei,

To cancel domain mapping for your WordPress.com blog, please visit https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades

There, you’ll be able to see the domain mapping upgrade that you’ve purchased. You can cancel it by yourself in this screen.

Please feel free to get back here in case you face any further issues while cancelling your domain.

    Happy blogging! :)

    – Hari.

    Hello Hari,
I can see the cancel upgrade for the wordpress.com premium for kyoseileadership.com but I cannot see any cancel buttons for model.org which I inadvertently mapped to kyoseileadership which is my primary domain. Can you please cancel that mapping or me?
    Thanks
    Sandy

    Hello again, Sandy.

I’m really sorry about the confusion – it appears that you cannot cancel the domain mapping upgrade on your own, as against to what I had mentioned in my previous reply to you. Domain mapping cancellation can be done only by WordPress.com staff. Really sorry for the misinformation… My bad.

I am tagging this post for staff support. A WordPress.com staff member will be helping you out with the cancellation. Please subscribe to this thread by using the ‘Subscribe to this topic’ link in the sidebar, so that you will be notified of staff replies immediately.

  • Hi there,

I have cancelled the domain mapping for you. Your Premium Plan’s domain credit should be available again if you have another domain you were planning to map.

Let me know if you need any more help.

I have switched my domain to GoDaddy.com, and the service as well, to make the bset use of their email server. There is no reason, therefore, that I need renew with WordPress, especially since I now have my own private domain (paulhollthrillers.com). Am I right? If so, please do not bill me. Thanks, Paul.

I just want to clarify what you want to do. Have you moved only your domain to GoDaddy, i.e. your site is still on WordPress.com, or have you moved your site to a self-hosted setup on GoDaddy?

If the latter, you can cancel all your upgrades here, as you’ll no longer need them. Please note that cancelling your Google Apps subscription will only remove it from your WordPress.com account. The subscription itself will remain active with Google until it expires at the end of the one year term.

If you’ve only moved your domain to GoDaddy, you will still need the upgrades here. Additionally, if the domain’s name servers are pointed here, your email records will need to be set up here as well, unless you map with A-records rather than name servers, which has other problems.

Let me know if you have more questions or how you would like to proceed.
