Cancelling a Domain Transfer

    I need to cancel my domain transfer because I am switching to WordPress.org. I talked to customer service a couple days ago and they said I should cancel the domain transfer started from Shopify and that would stop the transfer from their end. They said I could cancel my plan and I would get the refund (which I did), but now its been 3 days already since I requested the transfer cancelation from Shopify (which shows that it has been stopped). Since I cancelled my plan I cannot speak with customer service anymore and apparently they need to be the ones stopping the domain transfer so I could get my domain and refund. Let me know what I can do

    If I understand you correctly, you’d like to cancel the domain transfer, right?

    In that case, you’ll need to reach out to your current domain provider and ask them to stop the transfer on their end. Once the transfer is canceled, any payment made for the domain transfer on WordPress.com will be automatically refunded.

    Hello,

    Thank you for replying. I have already requested the transfer cancelation on Shopify and it shows as processed. This was 3 days ago. However, nothing has changed on WordPress.com and I just want to make sure I will get my refund.

    After checking your domain, I noticed that it currently has the pending_registry status. This means the transfer process is still ongoing, and there’s nothing we can do on our end until this status changes.

    Once a domain transfer is started, it can take up to 7 days for the full process to be completed. In this case, you’ll need to either wait until the domain transfer is completed or canceled, or you can check with your current registrar’s support team for more information about the status of the transfer.

    Once the transfer is either completed or canceled, we’ll be able to help you further.

    On October 21st I sent the following email to help@wordpress.com:

    Hello,

    My name is Stephanie and I was speaking with somebody through the forum under the name femininehabitsco. They told me that you guys could help me receive my domain transfer refund once the process is complete and I just received a notification that the domain transfer was successful. I tried to stop the transfer from Shopify, which in their website showed they did, but for some reason it did not stop on WordPress.com. I paid $48 for the plan and was only able to get $18 of a refund. I cannot speak to any live representatives because I don’t have an active plan. Please look back at the conversation within the forum for more information and let me know what else I should do.

    I then received an AI response asking for additional information and I reply in the same day. It has been 3 days and still no reply. I really would like my refund of $30 back to my account.

    This is the reply to the response I gave:

    Hello,

    I received the email today, October 21st, that the domain transfer was successful. I initiated the transfer on October 16th. On October 17th I spoke with somebody from customer service and they told me I had to wait for the transfer to go through and that it would be ok for me to cancel my plan because I would receive the $30 either ways. The domain transfer was femininehabits.co. The $48 was for an annual subscription of the personal plan and this domain femininehabitsco-pjtdw.wordpress.comI was only able to get $18 for the plan cancellation and the customer service person told me it was because I bought a domain transfer (which shows $0 on the receipt), so I cancelled the transfer on Shopify. Here is the receipt: 

    • RECEIPT ID [redacted by staff]
    • TRANSACTION ID [redacted by staff]

    And I also have the email transcript of the conversation with customer service if you would like. Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Please let me know what I should do.
