Cancelling a site payment

A site renewal email came through and said if you want to cancel, go to Manage Purchases, which I did. There are two tabs there, Purchases – which only offers an upgrade button, and Billing History, which has a line Go to purchases to add or cancel a plan. It’s one of those infuriating circular paths that drive me wild. Can anyone tell me how to actually cancel a payment plan and so deactivate a site that I want to drop? I shall complain direct to WordPress otherwise. Piers

Hi Piers If you are logged in with the username account that purchased the upgrade and on the site where the upgrade plan is active, you should see the plan in your Manage Purchases in order to cancel it.
How can I cancel my plan?
You can cancel your plan via Purchases. Click the button to Cancel below the plan details. Follow the prompts to cancel your plan, and be sure to check your email for a link to confirm your cancellation.https://en.support.wordpress.com/faq-renewing-and-canceling/

Once you remove the plan you can delete that site following these directions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Please note that deleting a site is permanent and both the site and the site address will be deleted. This is irreversible. If you think there is even the smallest chance that you will want to use the site address again one day, change your site’s privacy settings to Private to keep it out of search engines and public view.
