Cancelling and Refunding my WordPress Account
-
Hi,
I think that I was too eager to start this website and I realized that I need time to actually learn WordPress before committing to a payment plan. Is it possible to cancel my account and get a refund for the $33 that I spent to create this account? I read that it might be too late to refund the Bluehost domain that I used. Is it possible that I could get a refund for that too?
I really want to make this website, but I want to make sure that I do it correctly, and I don’t want to rush my learning process at the risk of sabotaging it.Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Hey there Anne, it sounds like you set up a DIY copy of WordPress with another host, especially since I don’t see any purchases under this account. Here’s what I’d advise:
- Depending on when you bought and where you bought it, you can likely get a hosting refund if needed. Just be sure to contact the company you bought from, preferably using the account you purchased with.
- Regarding the domain: depending on how long ago you bought it and whether you may want to use it again, I’d recommend against canceling it, since that doesn’t usually “free it up” for later use unless it’s a very new registration. You’d want to confirm with the company you bought it from.
I want to note too, if you want to get started without having to learn all the technical ins and outs of running your own copy of the software, you’d be welcome to host here! Ours is managed hosting rather than a DIY setup. So we have lots of tutorials and direct support, or we even have a service that can build a site for you. You can even set it up with the domain you bought elsewhere. And again, if you hit any walls or have questions, we’ll be here for you. Let us know how we can help.
