Cancelling Domain Names
-
Hello, I just cancelled my domain name because I wanted to use another site to build my website. I have gotten confirmation emails regarding my cancelled domain name and permanently deleting my website, however, when I try to use the domain name on this other site, it is saying the domain name is taken (even though I’ve cancelled). Please help.

Hi Liz, I am asking about alexmophoto.com. I just spoke to Darcie via Live Chat Support who is trying to return the domain to me, since it apparently won’t be available until next December. Can you please escalate this so I can use the domain again ASAP?

They should have an email ticket for this issue sent to you, as I didn’t see this forum post.

Thanks :) So, yes, you can use alexmophoto.com again at a different provider. However, we need to restore it to your account before that can happen.
Since the free site that was attached to alexmophoto.com has been deleted you’ll want to restore that as the first step.
Reply to the email that we sent about that site deletion letting us know it was an error. Tell me once you’ve sent that note so I can take action and move forward.
The domain can be pointed to the new provider then by updating the name servers. Once the free site is restored, I will restore the domain, and then you can update the name servers. Click on My Sites – Manage – Domains – DNS – Name Servers.
The domain was registered on December 28th, so if you want to transfer it rather than work on the name servers you have that option too. Same rules apply, we have to follow the above steps first.

Hello, I have replied to the emails I received earlier, and have replied saying the site deletion is an error. Please let me know when the domain is restored and ready to use again.

Ok, we’re going to work with this here.
First, https://themeparkalex.wordpress.com/ has been recovered.
Next, as mentioned during the domain cancellation, we cannot guarantee when or even if you’ll be able to re-register the domain. That is because the majority of the cancellation process is outside of our control, and this is true for all domain registrars.
The good news is that your domain is still under the grace period and can still be be recovered by us, and since you did not receive a refund for that, I have gone ahead and done just that: https://alexmophoto.com/
Now, you’ll be able to direct it anywhere simply by changing its name servers: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/change-name-servers/
And, after 60 days (another policy outside of domain registrar control), you’ll be able to transfer it elsewhere: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

Hello, it still is not showing up under my domains. The only domain that is showing up is alexmophoto.wordpress.com.
