Cancelling Domain & Refunds
-
Hi!
I have bought two domains over WordPress.com, sottovoices.com and sottovices.com. I’m thinking of getting rid of the domain sottovices.com but keeping the other one. Is it possible to get a partial refund for the part of the billing period that’s left? I’m paying $18/year/domain, and the period started in February, so just under half would be left.
Thanks!

Hi there,
Your account does not own those domains, so you don’t have the ability to cancel those domains.
That said, the refund period for domains is 48 hours, because after that time we have to pay the registry that controls the particular domain. The last payments on those domains were made in November last year, so they are far beyond the refund period by now.
Additionally, we don’t offer pro-rated refunds on any upgrades on WordPress.com, and the payments for those domains are too long ago for us to issue a late refund even if we wanted to. It’s literally impossible for us to still issue a refund at this stage – our payment processor doesn’t allow us to refund a transaction once a certain period of time has passed.
