How do I cancel the domain and blog and avoid any further charges? Auto renew is “enabled” and I cannot find a way to “disable.” I do not want to pay any more for this blog, which is not going to be used anymore. I have looked at every link I was told to go to … please help me cancel this and stop charging me for a blog I don’t want or use anymore.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can disable auto-renew Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades > Disable auto-renew

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds

    If applicable also see http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundle

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

Thanks. There was not a “disable” option for me in the store and I am not looking for a refund — only to prevent any more auto renewals. It’s been a couple years, so the refund thing isn’t applicable in this case. I will try the bundle cancel link, but I am skeptical. Thanks again.

Are you the person who originally purchased the upgrades? If not, you may need staff intervention to cancel autorenew.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, I am the original purchaser. But it seems like I might need staff intervention anyway ;-(. I don’t usually have trouble navigating such things, but they are really making me work for it on this one.

The domain will expire on 2013-08-31. Auto-renew has been disabled because your card expired. Canceling a domain means you completely give up ownership of the domain and can take up to 35 days before it will become available to register somewhere. If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of the domain name, please reply to confirm.

If you would like to transfer the domain to another registrar, you can use these steps.

Yes. I do want it cancelled. Thank you for your help.

  • Unknown's avatar

The domain has been canceled as requested. There’s still a ‘Custom Design’ and ‘No Ads’ upgrade attached to your blog, do you want me to remove those too?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, please. Remove both of those as well. Thanks again.

  • Unknown's avatar

The upgrades has been removed as requested.

    Thank you for your assistance.

I am curious, however. Why is there not an easily navigable way to get the cancellation done as a user?

  • Unknown's avatar

Normally you should be able to cancel your upgrades at ‘Store’ -> ‘My Upgrades’ in your blog’s dashboard. I’m not quite sure what went wrong but it’s all good now. Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
