Cancelling plan and domain, when can domain be released?
-
Hi, I had just cancelled my premium plan followed by domain (crp45.com) cancellation, however, I have only received email about plan cancellation but not domain cancellation. I notice that the crp45.com domain is still tied to wordpress.com, may I now how soon it will be released from wordpress.com and I can use it elsewhere? Thank you.

Hi there,
When you cancel a domain it doesn’t become available again immediately, but goes through a holding and redemption period at the registrar that can last several weeks. For this reason we advise against cancelling a domain, as you run a very real risk of losing it when you do.
In this case, of you cancelled the domain within 48 hours of registering it, it should be released again in about 5 days, but that’s in the hands of our registrar so I can’t guarantee it. So, you can wait and check in a few days if the domain is released again. If you decide to wait, let me know and I can refund the cost of the domain which wasn’t refunded when you cancelled Premium.
Or, the safer option, is that I try and undo the cancellation by writing to our registrar and asking them to restore the domain to our account. Then your domain will still be registered with us, but you can map it to a different host. You’ll be able to transfer it away from us once it has been registered for 60 days.
Let me know how you would like to proceed.
