Cancelling Site Redirect

  • Unknown's avatar

I checked my “purchases” RE the help page for canceling a site redirect, but it doesn’t separate out the site redirect from the purchase of my .com domain. I’ve made the .com domain primary, though I still see the “.wordpress.com” domain I’d been redirecting from as a domain “included with site.” I’m still being billed for the old redirect. How can I separate that out from paying for the domain.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Let’s ask Staff to assist you with sorting this out. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

  • Hi there,

I don’t see any site redirect upgrades in your account – I don’t even see past purchases for one, and your account’s billing history also shows no receipts for the purchase or renewal of a site redirect upgrade:

    https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing

Where exactly are you seeing the site redirect upgrade?

I’ve made the .com domain primary, though I still see the “.wordpress.com” domain I’d been redirecting from as a domain “included with site.”

That is how it’s supposed to work. The free WordPress.com address never disappears, even if you buy a custom domain. If you set the custom domain as primary the free address won’t be visible if you view the site in your address bar, but that address is where your site is hosted on our servers and cannot be removed without completely deleting the site.

When you buy a custom domain we automatically redirect the free address to the custom domain, and you don’t pay anything extra for that redirection.
