Cancelling subscriptions
-
Hi! We are a nonprofit who recently migrated our site from WordPress to Squarespace. We would now like to cancel our WordPress subscription as well as any subscriptions to WordPress plugins, etc. Unfortunately, we always logged into our Wodpress website through the portal at https://www.%5Bwebsite name].org/wp-login, using a username (not an email address) and password. Now that the site is gone from WordPress, we obviously cannot log in that way. When I try to log in at https://wordpress.com/log-in/ , using the username, I get the message ‘User does not exist. Would you like to create a new account?’ We do not appear to have an email address associated with the site. How can I log in? Or is there a phone number that I can call to cancel the subscriptions? Thank you for your kind assistance.

Hello! 👋🏼
I checked the site uuam.org, and it’s definitely not hosted with WordPress.com, and from what I see, it wasn’t hosted before either.
Furthermore, I didn’t see any purchases under your account.

I appreciate your response! Correct, the site is no longer hosted by WordPress, but it was until about two months ago. Unfortunately I cannot log in to https://wordpress.com/log-in , as WordPress does not recognize the username I have always used at https://www.%5Bwebsite name].org/wp-login, and I do not know or have access to the email address associated with the WordPress account, if there is one. Is there a way to cancel a WordPress autorenewal if I cannot log in to the account? Thank you for your help!

Hi there, @uuanimalministry!
Thanks for reaching out.
Was that old WordPress site on the domain uuam.org? If so, that site has never been hosted at WordPress.com. Instead, it looks like you had a WordPress site with the host Network Solutions. I was able to pull up your DNS history and the last A record set on the domain was for Network Solutions.
You should contact Network Solutions to make sure your subscriptions are canceled with them.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you! Yes, the old domain was uuam.org. I have not heard of Network Solutions or ever visited their website. I just tried to log in there, and they do not have any record of our organizational info@ email there, nor do they have any record of our website in their system, according to their finder tool.
I think all that I may need to do at this point is cancel the WordPress subscription itself. You’re saying to cancel my WordPress subscription itself, I should go through Network Solutions? Thank you for your kind assistance.

Hi there, @uuanimalministry!
Yes, that is right. What I mean is that site was never hosted with us at WordPress.com. WordPress.com is a managed host solution for WordPress sites. You were not using WordPress.com. Instead, you were using WordPress.org (self hosted), the version of WordPress that requires you to purchase hosting elsewhere.
You need to contact whoever you were hosting your WordPress site with to resolve that billing issue.
