If https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php is the address of the page where you see that message, can you let me know if you are possibly behind a firewall or if your computer or network could be blocking you for some reason?

If not, what is the address for the log in page you are using?

I did test logging in to WordPress.com at https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php and it is working for me. If WordPress.com is indeed where you are trying to log in, then it could be a temporary network issue. You might also consider clearing your browser cache and cookies as a good first troubleshooting step to see if that helps.

    webiste is http://newcombeestate.com/
    Cleared cache and cookies

Website loads but for presentation page images.

http://newcombeestate.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword also receives the error message.

Wonder if it is corrupted and how I would go about replacing the wordpress to reinstall? Can I just drop and drag a new version on the old files if I have FTP access?

Thank you for the info! http://newcombeestate.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, and this forum is mainly for WordPress.com sites (they are each a bit different). What I can do is guide you with the best advice I know based on the info you’ve given so far and also help you get to the right place to ask for further help.

First, I checked http://newcombeestate.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and I am able to see the form without problems. If you see the error at that point, then it’s possible there’s something local on your computer or on your network that’s blocking your access for some reason. To troubleshoot that and rule it out as the problem, here are some things you can try:

Try adding newcombeestate.com to the allowed sites in your browser and in your firewall software if you have any.

Try an alternate browser. If it works, then the issue is with the browser settings.

Try an alternate computer if you have one in the same location. If another computer works, then the issue is computer settings on the first one.

Try an alternate location. If it works, the issue is with your local network.

Looking more closely at the error message itself, it really does seem to me like it might be a network issue (because I don’t see the same problem when I test). Because of that, I think the alternate network troubleshooting step might be the one that works and reveals the issue is network-based (this is only a guess based on the info given here so far though).

If those things don’t work or if you cannot test them, then contact your ISP and ask them to help you make sure the traffic is being routed properly from your location to this address: http://newcombeestate.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

However, because the problem is likely to be a network issue, talking to a local IT person would be your first best option, then try checking with your ISP, past that your web host might be able to help give you some good direction but if it really is a network issue then IT or your ISP are the better chance for resolving the issue.

Another good place for you to ask for help will be in the self-hosted WordPress.org forum at http://wordpress.org/support/ which is a volunteer-based support forum for people with a WordPress setup similar to yours. They may have similar advice to mine, but they also deal a lot more with self-hosted WordPress.org setups whereas people in this forum don’t have as much experience in that area.
