Hi Matriellez,
When I check my email address there is no link. please can you help.
We have been unable to send a password reset email for the account that owns matriellez.wordpress.com. because the email address is no longer active. Therefore, we will need you to fill out the Account Recovery form in order to access the site if you cannot remember your password:
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Gemma,
Thanks for the reply.
Simultaneously my email has gone down. I would ask you to try again when I have got it back up again.
I don’t want to use the account recovery form as I don’t have a transaction ID – free account, no activation URL as the account is up to 7 years old, and no two way authentication.
I have not lost or forgotten my password, the login does not accept it. Do you know why?

Hi Matriellez,
Once your email is up and running you’ll be able to reset your password by entering your username into our password reset form at:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordIf you’d like to know why you need to reset your password we can provide that information via email after your account is accepting incoming email. Just let us know in a reply here.

Dear bdukes,
Thanks for this.
The problem gets worse – sorry.
My email is now up and working. I tried to access my dashboard the usual way – username and insecure password and was told error. I clicked on lost password, entered matriellez, and checked for a mail from wordpress. Did not happen. I entered the email address below and it was not recognised.
The email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) is not an address I use often, it is the address I thought was associated with matriellez. I sent it emails from two different addresses, and I received them.
Can you allow me to access the account with the insecure password ?
Can you resolve the problem another way?
Matriellez

I did not enter the full email address but what I entered was redacted. The first part of the address is “w–z”, then there is an “at” followed by zandtao and the usual dotcom. can you help me resolve the problem?
-
The first part of the address has 4 characters, the first character is w and the last character is z
-
Hi Matriellez,
No worries, staff is able to see your email even though it’s shown as redacted publicly.
For security reasons we are unable to allow you to access the site with the insecure password. I do see that our emails are still not being delivered, please check any email you may have used while signing up for WordPress.com.

Dear bdukes,
Please ensure this post is redacted, maybe you have deleted it already but maybe I made a mistake so I am sending this again.
I have determined the email address as (email visible only to moderators and staff).
Unfortunately this creates a further problem. Zarendhara was a domain name that I used before I started using Zandtao. I changed the domain name 8 or so years ago because of a problem with a previous webhost provider who was trying to charge me extra when I wanted to change hosts. So I cannot access any zarendhara email addresses. You will note the similarity of email addresses for the Zandtao wordpress account that I am now using to communicate with you.
“Security reasons”. I don’t think that they are down to me even though my password is weak. For further evidence that the Matriellez.wordpress.com account is mine, you can check my website. Matriellez is a sub-domain and http://matriellez.zandtao.com. The blog, Matriellez, is now a companion to the near-completed book at this URL about my teaching life.
I would be grateful if you send details to me via Zandtao at (email visible only to moderators and staff) , or enable access to the Matriellez blog using my old password and I will immediately change the password as I have with Zandtao.
Hope you are keeping well

Hi there,
If you can’t access the email address connected to the account the only other option is to verify your ownership via the account recovery form, as we’ve already indicated above.
Your ownership of the http://matriellez.zandtao.com domain does not verify your ownership of a WordPress.com site that happens to use the same name. The items referenced in the account recovery document are the only forms of verification we can accept for this purpose.

Dear kokkieh,
Thanks for this.
As I said above I don’t have what is required in the account recovery form “I don’t want to use the account recovery form as I don’t have a transaction ID – free account, no activation URL as the account is up to 7 years old, and no two way authentication.” Based on the email address the account must be more than 10 years old (activation URL).
Whilst I have made a mistake by not updating the email address, it is wordpress who has blocked a legitimate password without a proper explanation – I have not lost my password and caused the problem. WordPress has suddenly decided not to accept my password. This seems very unfair to me.
Why can’t you just allow me to use the password, and then I can update my profile with a stronger password and current email address. This would seem fair to me.

Hi there,
I have determined the email address as _____
It wasn’t that, actually. Was there another address you used when this site was registered? You could even ask the folks you were emailing at that time what addresses they have in their address books for you.
