Cannot access my blog – old email no longer exists
-
Dear administrators,
I cannot access my WordPress.com blog lumeudutaja.wordpress.com. When I try to log in, the site blocks me and asks for a password reset. However, the email originally associated with the blog ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) no longer exists, because the hot.ee service was shut down. This means I cannot receive any reset emails.
I created this new WordPress.com account through my Gmail so I could post here.
Unfortunately, none of the three proofs of ownership required are available in my case. My blog was a free plan (no transaction ID), I did not have a custom domain, and I only used simple login at the time.
I know from the retrospective that it is incredibly stupid to not renew my e-mail or secure my account with another authentication methods.
However, I can prove my ownership privately:
- I have a full backup copy of my blog posts from 2007–2016.
- I can provide detailed information about specific posts, subpages, and content (for example, a “books I have read” subpage with a list of titles).
- My blog was always private, so the details I can share are known only to me.
- If useful, my access history from last years since 2021 should also match the IP/address I am using now.
I hope that we can cooperate and you give me the chance to provide data about the blog privately so I can prove my ownership, and you can verify it manually or outside the automatic authentication process. And, of course, as soon as I regain access, I immediately set up the required authentication methods.
I understand that WordPress.com takes account security very seriously, and I appreciate that. At the same time, losing access to these texts — which I have written over many years – is acutely frustrating for me. I feel I cannot lose these.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
With gratitude,
Lona PällThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Lona,
I understand how worrying it is to lose access to years of your writing, especially when the original email address is no longer active.
Great to see you reaching out so we can help you get back into your site!
Since this is a public forum, we cannot ask you to share private information or review your backups here for security reasons. However, we can definitely look into the manual evidence you have mentioned via our secure Account Recovery process.
To move forward, please fill out our Account Recovery form here: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#verify-your-account-ownership
- Under “Proof of Ownership,” provide as much detail as you can.
- Since you do not have a Transaction ID or Activation URL, you can explain in the provided text fields that you have private backups and specific content knowledge (like the “books I have read” page).
- Once you submit the form, our Account Recovery team will review the details and contact you at your new email address to discuss the next steps.
We look forward to helping you recover your work.

Hi there, Lona,
Let’s move the conversation to a more private and secure channel of communication, because forums are not the best place to talk about Account Recovery.
Can you please email us at passwordhelp@wordpress.com for us to discuss recovery options with you over there?
