Cannot Access Site Admin

Hey, there! I had a site that was on a business plan but then downgraded to the free plan, but now I cannot access the site at all. When one goes to the domain it says server not found and I cannot access the admin panel or change any settings or anything. Thanks for your help!

    Hi fsa413,

What is the address of the site you are having trouble accessing?

I noticed a Business plan was being used on 1stcenturyfaithtoday.wordpress.com but you cancelled this and the custom domain a few days ago. If this is the site you are referring to, we’ll need to revert it back to the free plan for you — cancelling the plan doesn’t automatically do this on sites using plugins and custom themes.

Once I know exactly which site you are referring to, we can look at the next steps.

Thank you! Yes, that’s the one.

  • Thanks @fsa413, did you intend to keep the custom domain or just switch to a free address? If you intend to keep the domain, let’s sort that part out first.

If you want to just revert to a totally free address, we’ll need to revert the site (which will mean you’ll lose the changes you’ve made from the point where you installed a custom theme or plugin on forward). After that we can try to retrieve the content you’ve added since then.

OR, if you intended to keep the domain with some plan, just not on a business plan, let us know so we can get that restored. Then we’ll be able to revert the site, keeping all content and just switching to features allowed within your plan.

Please confirm which method you’d like to take.

@supernovia thank you! I’d like to keep the custom domain. I plan on going back to the business plan eventually just not right now. Can we keep the custom domain on a free plan?

  • @fsa413 we could set you up so you at least don’t lose the custom domain. But it’ll be a bit tricky. First, 1stcenturyfaithtoday.com is in domain redemption right now, so there’s an extra $80 fee, plus the regular renewal fee, to get it back.

Also, it was owned by user 1stcenturyfaithtoday, so we’d need to work through that account.

Given that, do you want to try to get 1stcenturyfaithtoday.com back and then restore all of the content?

Or do you want to let it continue the redemption process for now, and try to get the content to 1stcenturyfaithtoday.wordpress.com ? (again, this process has a bit more risk of content loss)
