Cannot access site – SGExceptionForbidden: Permission denied. Directory is not writable

  • Unknown's avatar

I cannot access the front or back end of my website and am encountering the follow error message:

SGExceptionForbidden: Permission denied. Directory is not writable: /home/domains/vol1/838/1287838/user/htdocs/wp-content/uploads/backup-guard/

I’ve seen a few other people with this problem but I really do not understand any of the responses I’ve read as to either what the issue is or any of the advice given. All I can tell is that it’s something to do with the Backup guard I installed a while ago but I don’t know anything about how this application works. If I cannot access my dashboard how can I change anything to fix it? Please can someone help?

  • Hey foscreations,

I checked your site and it is not hosted on WordPress.com.

Your domain points to LIVEDNS.CO.UK. Based on this info, I assume you are WordPress.org user. This forum is dedicated to WordPress.com.

Here are the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

For further assistance, head on over to the WordPress.org forums.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, so we cannot help you with this. If you’re using the self-hosted WordPress software, the best place to ask for help is the WordPress.org forums, here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/

It also appears that your site is infected with malware, so I recommend you contact your hosting provider so they can help with that.
